“This boat right here delivers the mail and the mail carriers have to be quick not to miss the boat.  This popular summer (and winter) destination is home to lots of FIBS, tons of restaurants and bars but you really don't want to be boating on the weekends.  Simply too many boats out there...”

Can you guess the location?

It's May 1st - Happy Birthday Dan O'Brien...

Dan O'Brien has been one of my closest friends for over 30 years. He and his wife, Karen have been close to us ever since I can remember.  He's a great guy, super intelligent (just ask him), and loyal to his family and friends (almost to a fault). But the world needs more people like him.  Just don't argue with him...you will lose.  Happy Birthday my good friend...and many more.

Well the summer season is just around the corner.  My wife and I were married 33 years ago this month and the day we were married (May 8) was a glorious day after a week filled with rain and clouds.  Our wedding day was 82 degrees and sunny.  The ceremony and reception went off without a hitch and it was off to real life.

Side note - If you want to know if you are compatible with someone, just do something normal on a Tuesday night.  No thrills.  No fancy dinner.  Just home making dinner, having conversation and real life. My point is more about the weather than finding your companion (although that's probably the most important thing in life).

Since that May 8th, roughly 12–15 felt genuinely nice (high ≥65°F and dry or mostly dry), while the rest were either too cool, overcast, or had rain. The exact number depends on your definition of "nice" — if you’re strict (sunny 70+), it’s closer to 8–10. If you’re loose (any dry day above 60°), it’s higher.  So there's a 27% chance that it will be nice this year...

So although it seems that summer sun is just around the corner, I am afraid we probably will have some gloomy days ahead.

So that begs the question:

If April showers bring May flowers then what do May showers bring?

1) The Pilgrims (Dad Joke)

2) June Bugs

3) Allergies

4) Even more flowers

Let's go summer. And quick.

One minute you’re basking in warm sunshine, dreaming of rooftop drinks. The next, you’re sprinting for cover as sideways rain and 48-degree wind slap you in the face. Tulips bloom bravely, only to get pelted by surprise snowflakes.
Locals have mastered the art of layered fashion: shorts under hoodies under rain jackets, because you never know which season will show up for lunch.
It’s the only month where the weather forecast is treated as a polite suggestion that Mother Nature usually ignores.
Still, we plant flowers, plan picnics, and believe in spring with the stubborn optimism of true Chicago masochists.May in Chicago: beautiful, bipolar, and always good for a laugh.
Welcome to May in Chicago: where the flowers bloom, the winds howl, and hope springs eternal… right up until it hails.

ANSWER: Rome, Italy

“This big city is home to a ton of history.  In fact, Emporers walked here and all roads lead here...”

Rome is one of those cities that feels truly eternal. Legend says it was founded in 753 BC by Romulus on the banks of the Tiber River, and it eventually grew into the powerhouse of an empire that shaped law, language, and culture across the Western world.
The Colosseum still steals the show — that massive ancient arena where gladiators battled and huge crowds cheered. Not far away, the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill give you a glimpse into the political and luxurious heart of old Rome, with temples, arches, and the ruins of emperors’ palaces. Then there’s the Pantheon, an engineering marvel with the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome and a perfect hole in the roof that lets in dramatic shafts of sunlight.
How did they build all of that?
Rome is also famous for its fountains. The Trevi Fountain is the undisputed star — a huge, theatrical Baroque masterpiece where you toss a coin over your shoulder to guarantee you’ll come back to Rome someday. Nearby in Piazza Navona, Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers is equally impressive, with its dramatic river gods and towering obelisk.
Again, how did they build those fountains that remain pristine to this day and we can't even keep a fountain running in my town after it was installed 25 years ago?  They literally have to tear it down due to plumbing issues...
Even after all these centuries, Rome inspires wild conspiracy theories. Some claim the Vatican hides ancient secrets or suppressed knowledge in its archives, while others swear pagan symbols are secretly embedded in Christian sites. The wildest ones even suggest the entire story of ancient Rome was exaggerated or partly invented. Whether you believe any of that or not, walking through the city makes it easy to feel like hidden history is lurking just beneath your feet.
Short, sweet, and full of wonder — that’s Rome for you.
