Happy Birthday
Melissa!
Today is my wife
Melissa's birthday so there is NO WAY I was going to avoid it... Here she
is last year with my two boys, David (14) and Chase (9) at the ballpark
last season (I am taking the picture). Opening Day at Wrigley Field
is a week away and we look forward to the Boys of Summer returning. I
hope we have a great day today with you, Honey! We love you very
much. Anyone who knows you wonders why I got so lucky....seriously.
Ok, enough of
that.
April showers
bring May flowers and all of that. However, this month begins the
second quarter of 2018 and there are many REALLY COOL THINGS to do this
time of year.
Here are just a
few ideas - some really cool tours that are pricey and private:
1) The Art
Institute of Chicago
2) Millennium Park
And now for a new
picture above- Can you guess where it is by looking "through the
keyhole"? "An Arabic Palace fit for a king lies here as a marble
and gold replica of the White House. An hours drive to the Prudential Rock.
The people take siestas each day and hablan Espanol. The O'Brien's (and
lots of other folks) went there on their Honeymoon." Can you guess the location?
Correct answers will be given recognition but half the fun is trying to
figure it out. The correct answer will be revealed in the subsequent
issue. Good luck and have fun.

Giant's
Causeway, Ireland - Keyhole Answer
"This
spectacular coastal causeway has a unique polygonal landscape
feature. This 4th greatest natural wonder of the region features a
giant's boot, a wishing chair and an 'organ' that looks straight out of
minecraft. This country is also home to wool sweaters, hand made
crystal and lots of room temperature beer."
Last month, Stuart
Aynsley won the location by guessing
correctly. His answer - " Giant's Causeway. County Antrim, Northern
Ireland. Incidentally, the crystal is all made in the south in Eire and
don't tell a Protestant they are the same country!". Great job! and
good history too.
The Giant's Causeway is an
area of about 40,000 interlocking basalt columns, the result of an ancient
volcanic eruption. It is located in County Antrim on the north coast of
Northern Ireland, about three miles (4.8 km) northeast of the town of
Bushmills - there's a name I have heard of...
In a 2005 poll of Radio Times
readers, the Giant's Causeway was named as the fourth greatest natural
wonder in the United Kingdom. The tops of the columns form stepping stones
that lead from the cliff foot and disappear under the sea. Most of the
columns are hexagonal, although there are also some with four, five, seven
or eight sides. The tallest are about 12 metres (39 ft) high, and the
solidified lava in the cliffs is 28 metres (92 ft) thick in places.
Much of the Giant's Causeway
and Causeway Coast World Heritage Site is today owned and managed by the
National Trust and it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Northern
Ireland.
According to legend, the
columns are the remains of a causeway built by a giant. The story goes that
the Irish giant Fionn mac Cumhaill (Finn MacCool), from the Fenian Cycle of
Gaelic mythology, was challenged to a fight by the Scottish giant
Benandonner. Fionn accepted the challenge and built the causeway across the
North Channel so that the two giants could meet. In one version of the
story, Fionn defeats Benandonner. In another, Fionn hides from
Benandonner when he realizes that his foe is much bigger than he is.
Either way, it looks like my
son Chase made this in Minecraft.
It's no LAS VEGAS but really an amazing geological and topographical
wonder...
The FBI Paid Geek Squad Employees To Turn
Over Illegal Content Found On Customers' Devices (this is NOT A JOKE)
The FBI has been paying and
using Best Buy Geek Squad employees to flag and turn over illegal content
that they find on devices while doing repairs, according to documents
obtained by the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
The newly obtained records
detail how the agency regularly relied on Geek Squad employees as tipsters
and confidential human sources, developing a process in which repair
technicians in Louisville, Kentucky, would call the agency after finding
illegal content, such as child pornography, on a customer's device.
Agents would then show up at
the Geek Squad's repair facility, review the photos or videos to determine
whether they were illegal, and then seize the device and send it off for
further review. In certain cases, agents would obtain a search warrant. In
one case, the FBI paid a Geek Squad employee $500 for turning over child abuse
images and used him as an informant in the case.
It Happened to US
here at TURNkey IT...
One of our
technicians was on the receiving end of a Brute Force Attack. What
this means is a hacker used a tool to repeatedly attempt to get into his
email account. This took quite some time but they did it (we have
complexity requirements). Once he did (I assume a he), hundreds of
emails were sent to everyone in his sent mail and encouraged to download a
file and be compromised (ransomware we assume). Many of the recipients
responded and asked if our tech was serious? An automatic rule was
set up by the hacker to say, "yes. Please open the
attachment." SCARY. Other rules were set up to cover the
hacker's tracks.
The GOOD NEWS is
that for those of our customers who opened it, the threat was stopped by
our Sophos Anti-virus and Anti-Malware products. Thank you
SOPHOS. We also learned of the breach within minutes.
The threat has
been removed and we are back and running (within minutes). Microsoft did an
assessment for us as it was on their Office 365 platform and the following
was their recommendation: Enable 2-Factor Authentication. That
means every time you check your email FROM A NEW DEVICE, you are delivered
a code via text message. That is a pain in the neck but very
secure. This has been enabled.
I would highly
suggest that everyone uses a very complex password that is at least 8
digits in length. I assume that in the near future we will all be
using 2 factor authentication.
It happens to the
best of us and Luke still works here...for now:)
High School Year Book Quotes - Make a Statement
Dollar Bill
On the rear of the One Dollar bill, you will see two circles. Together,
they comprise the Great Seal of the United States The First Continental
Congress requested that Benjamin Franklin and a group of men come up with a
Seal. It took them four years to accomplish this task and another two years
to get it approved.
If you look at the left-hand circle, you will see a Pyramid.
Notice the face is lighted, and the western side is dark. This country was
just beginning. We had not begun to explore the west or decided what we
could do for Western Civilization. The Pyramid is uncapped, again
signifying that we were not even close to being finished. Inside the
Capstone you have the all-seeing eye, an ancient symbol for divinity. It
was Franklin's belief that one man couldn't do it alone, but a group of
men, with the help of God, could do anything.
'IN GOD WE TRUST' is on this currency.
The Latin above the pyramid, ANNUIT COEPTIS, means, 'God has favored our
undertaking.'
The Latin below the pyramid, NOVUS ORDO SECLORUM, means, 'a new order has
begun.'
At the base of the pyramid is the Roman numeral for 1776. (MDCCLXXVI)
If you look at the right-hand circle, and check it carefully, you will
learn that it is on every National Cemetery in the United States .
It is also on the Parade of Flags Walkway at the Bushnell, Florida National
Cemetery , and is the centerpiece of most heroes' monuments.
Slightly modified, it is the seal of the President of the United States ,
and it is always visible whenever he speaks, yet very few people know what
the symbols mean.
The Bald Eagle was selected as a symbol for victory for two reasons:
First, he is not afraid of a storm; he is strong, and he is smart enough to
soar above it.
Secondly, he wears no material crown. We had just broken from the King of
England ..
Also, notice the shield is unsupported. This country can now stand on its
own.
At the top of that shield there is a white bar signifying congress, a
unifying factor. We were coming together as one nation.
In the Eagle's beak you will read, ' E PLURIBUS UNUM' meaning, 'from many -
one.'
Above the Eagle, we have the thirteen stars, representing the thirteen
original colonies, and any clouds of misunderstanding rolling away. Again,
we were coming together as one.
Notice what the Eagle holds in his talons. He holds an olive branch and
arrows. This country wants peace, but we will never be afraid to fight to
preserve peace. The Eagle always wants to face the olive branch, but in
time of war, his gaze turns toward the arrows.
An (untrue) old-fashioned belief says that the number 13 is an unlucky
number. This is almost a worldwide belief. You will almost never see a room
numbered 13, or any hotels or motels with a 13th floor. But think about
this:
America, which relies on God (not a number) to direct and lead, boldly
chose:
13 original colonies,
13 signers of the Declaration of Independence ,
13 stripes on our flag,
13 steps on the pyramid,
13 letters in 'Annuit Coeptis',
13 letters in ' E Pluribus Unum,'
13 stars above the eagle,
13 bars on that shield,
13 leaves on the olive branch,
13 fruits, and if you look closely,
13 arrows.
And finally, notice the arrangement of the 13 stars in the right-hand
circle.
You will see that they are arranged as a
Star of David.
This was ordered by George Washington who, when he asked Haym Solomon, a
wealthy Philadelphia Jew, what he would like as a personal reward for his
services to the Continental Army. Solomon said he wanted nothing for
himself, but he would like something for his people. The Star of David was
the result. Few people know it was Solomon who saved the Army through his
financial contributions...then died a pauper. Haym Solomon gave $25 million
to save the Continental Army, money that was sorely needed to help realize
America’s –our- freedom and independence from England ..
Therein lies America ’s Judeo-Christian beginning.
Most American children do NOT know any of this.
They are not taught because their history teachers do not know this.
[They were not taught!]

Why Buy a House
when you can PRINT ONE?
One of the less obvious products being unveiled this week at SXSW is a
small concrete house. On the outside, it doesn’t look like anything
particularly special, although the covered patio and spacious windows are
less common on tiny poured-concrete buildings.
That’s because the
innovation isn’t in the structure or materials — it’s in the design and
building. ICON, the company that builds the 650-square-foot house, claims
it costs just $10,000 to build and can be 3-D-printed by a Vulcan printer
in 12 to 24 hours using the most common building material on Earth. ICON
has built a model at SXSW that features a living room, bedroom, bathroom
and curved porch. The company’s co-founders told The Verge...
